Prem Ras Madira

Deena ki, suna lo Deenanatha !
Oh, Lord of the destitute souls, Shri Krishna! Listen to my cry.

sadhana-heena, malina, chhina haun, saba vidhi Nath anath.
I am without any means, extremely sinful and fallen. My Lord! I am an orphan in every sense.

shraddha bal sambala nahin nekahun, nahin santana ko satha.
I have not a trace of devotion in my heart nor do I associate with your saints.

Yeh Tan Vish ki Belri, Guru Amrit ki Khaan

Yeh Tan Vish ki Belri, Guru Amrit ki Khaan,
Shish kate aur Guru mile, to bhi sasta jaan.
Our body is like a plant of poison and Guru is a mine of Nectar. Even if the life is sacrificed to reach the Guru, the deal comes at a cheap price. Because, once we reach the Guru and submit our self to Him, the course that our soul will now take, will be defined by our Guru. "Guru Bina Gati Nahin". Without The Guru, we cannot achieve our ultimate aim.

Bhagavad-Gita

Bhagavad-gita
by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

Chapter 1
Observing the Armies on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra

TEXT 20

atha vyavasthitan drstva
dhartarastran kapi-dhvajah
pravrtte sastra-sampate
dhanur udyamya pandavah
hrsikesam tada vakyam
idam aha mahi-pate

TRANSLATION
O King, at that time Arjuna, the son of Pandu, who was seated in his chariot, bearing the flag marked with Hanuman, took up his bow and prepared to shoot his arrows, looking at the sons of Dhrtarastra. O King, Arjuna then spoke to Hrsikesa [Krsna] these words:

PURPORT
The battle was just about to begin. It is understood from the above statement that the sons of Dhrtarastra were more or less disheartened by the unexpected arrangement of military force by the Pandavas, who were guided by the direct instructions of Lord Krsna on the battlefield. The emblem of Hanuman on the flag of Arjuna is another sign of victory because Hanuman cooperated with Lord Rama in the battle between Rama and Ravana, and Lord Rama emerged victorious. Now both Rama and Hanuman were present on the chariot of Arjuna to help him. Lord Krsna is Rama Himself, and wherever Lord Rama is, His eternal servitor Hanuman and His eternal consort Sita, the goddess of fortune, are present. Therefore, Arjuna had no cause to fear any enemies whatsoever. And above all, the Lord of the senses, Lord Krsna, was personally present to give him direction. Thus, all good counsel was available to Arjuna in the matter of executing the battle. In such auspicious conditions, arranged by the Lord for His eternal devotee, lay the signs of assured victory.

Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara) - Javata

One day, Sri Krsna could not meet with Radhika because She was in mana. He became most agitated in separation from Her, so on the advice of Visakha, He disguised himself as a brahmana student.

Necessity of a Guru in our life

A Guru is absolutely necessary for every aspirant in the spiritual path. God teaches through the human enlightened body of a fully realized Guru. The Guru is the pattern into which you should mould yourself. Guru is the door to spiritual liberation, but it is the aspirant who has to enter it through niskama karma -righteous words, thoughts and actions performed without the expectation of results.

TRANSLATION
Arjuna said: O infallible one, please draw my chariot between the two armies so that I may see who is present here, who is desirous of fighting, and with whom I must contend in this great battle attempt.

PURPORT
Although Lord Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, out of His causeless mercy He was engaged in the service of His friend. He never fails in His affection for His devotees, and thus He is addressed herein as infallible. As charioteer, He had to carry out the orders of Arjuna, and since He did not hesitate to do so, He is addressed as infallible. Although He had accepted the position of a charioteer for His devotee, His supreme position was not challenged. In all circumstances, He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Hrsikesa, the Lord of the total senses. The relationship between the Lord and His servitor is very sweet and transcendental. The  servitor is always ready to render service to the Lord, and, similarly, the Lord is always seeking an opportunity to render some service to the devotee. He takes greater pleasure in His pure devotee's assuming the advantageous position of ordering Him than He does in being the giver of orders. As master, everyone is under His orders, and no one is above Him to order Him. But when He finds that a pure devotee is ordering Him, He obtains transcendental pleasure, although He is the infallible master of all circumstances. As a pure devotee of the Lord, Arjuna had no desire to fight with his cousins and brothers, but he was forced to come onto the battlefield by the obstinacy of Duryodhana, who was never agreeable to any peaceful negotiation. Therefore, he was very anxious to see who the leading persons present on the battlefield were. Although there was no question of a peacemaking endeavor on the battlefield, he wanted to see them again and to see how much they were bent upon demanding an unwanted war.

Story of Lord Krishna - SRIMAD BHAGAVATA by Krsna-Dwaipayana Vyasa

The Killing of Kansa

1. Thus addressed, Lord Krsna made up His mind to accept the challenge. He paired off with Canura, and Lord Balarama with Mustika.

Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara) - Kokilavana

Once, the very playful Sri Krsna eagerly desired to meet Srimati Radhika, but because of the obstacles created by Her mother-in-law Jatila, sister-in-law Kutila and husband Abhimanyu, Srimati Radhika could not get to Their appointed meeting place. After waiting for a long time, Krsna climbed a tall tree and sweetly began to imitate the sound of a cuckoo.

Meditation on Sri RadhaKrishna

I meditate on two-armed Lord Krishna, who is dark like a monsoon cloud, dressed in yellow garments, garlanded with forest flowers... crowned with a peacock feather, and garlanded with lotus whorls, whose face is splendid like ten million moons, whose eyes move restlessly... whose forehead is marked with tilaka of sandal paste and musk... who is splendid with earrings like two rising suns, whose perspiration-anointed cheeks are like two glistening mirrors... who with raised eyebrows playfully glances at His beloved's face, the tip of whose graceful raised nose is decorated with a glistening pearl... whose bimba-fruit lips are splendid in the moonlight of His teeth, whose hands are splendid with bracelets, armlets, and jewel rings... who holds a flute in His left lotus hand, whose waist is splendid with a graceful belt, whose feet are splendid with graceful anklets... whose eyes are restless with the nectar of amorous pastimes, who jokes with His beloved, making Her laugh again and again... and who stays with Her on a jewel throne under a kalpa-vriksha tree in Vrindavana forest. In this way one should meditate on Lord Krishna and His beloved."

Sri Nanda-Nandanastakam

A Prayer to Lord Krishna

I offer pranama to Sri Nandanandana (the son of Nanda Maharaja, Krishna), whose face is extremely delightful, from whose beautiful ears hang jewelled earrings, and whose entire body is anointed with fragrant candana.

Observing the Armies on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra

TEXT 23

TRANSLATION
Let me see those who have come here to fight, wishing to please the evil-minded son of Dhrtarastra.

PURPORT
It was an open secret that Duryodhana wanted to usurp the kingdom of the Pandavas by evil plans, in collaboration with his father, Dhrtarastra. Therefore, all persons who had joined the side of Duryodhana must have been birds of the same feather. Arjuna wanted to see them in the battlefield before the fight was begun, just to learn who they were, but he had no intention of proposing peace negotiations with them. It was also a fact that he wanted to see them to make an estimate of the strength which he had to face, although he was quite confident of victory because Krsna was sitting by his side.

Krsna Rescues His Teacher’s Son

1. Understanding that His parents were becoming aware of His transcendental opulences, the Supreme Personality of Godhead thought that this should not be allowed to happen. Thus He expanded His Yogamaya, which bewilders His devotees.

Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara) - Javata

Once, Srimati Radhika was in mana and did not meet Krsna for several days. The sakhis tried various means to convince Her to give up Her mana, but on this occasion Her mana was fixed and therefore difficult to subdue. Krsna's separation from Radha filled Him with great distress. Subala sakha therefore began to hatch a plan to help Him meet with Radha. Subala exactly resembles Srimati Radhika in age, beauty, speech and so forth and is skilled in many arts. He consoled Krsna, saying," Why are You so distressed? You should wait in this kunja for a short time while I arrange Your meeting with Priyaji." Saying this, he went to Yava-grama. When Jatila(Srimati Radhika's mother-in-law) saw him there, she cried out," Subala, you are the friend of that licentious debauchee Krsna, why are you hovering around our house? Leave this place immediately."

Story of Lord Krishna - SRIMAD BHAGAVATA by Krsna-Dwaipayana Vyasa

Uddhava Visits Vrndavana

1. The supremely intelligent Uddhava was the best counselor of the Vrsni dynasty, a beloved friend of Lord Sri Krsna and a direct disciple of Brhaspati.

2. The Supreme Lord Hari, who relieves the distress of all who surrender to Him, once took the hand of His fully devoted, dearmost friend Uddhava and addressed him as follows.

Guru

Two things are necessary for a beautifully finished sculpture. One is a strong piece of marble and the second is the expert sculptor. The piece of marble should but unconditionally remain in the hands of the sculptor, in order to be carved and chiselled into the fine image. The seeker placing himself under the expert guidance of a fully realized Guru, will allow to be carved out and chiselled into the image of perfection. It is also absolutely necessary for the disciple to purify himself through positive karma -righteous words, thoughts and actions in order to attain liberation.

Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara) - Chatravana & Umrao

Here, Sridama and other sakhas seated Sri Krsna on a throne and declared Him the exalted king(Chatra-pati) of Vraja. Sri Balarama sat on Krsna's left side, and began executing the duties of minister of state. Sridama held an umbrella over Krsna's head; Arjuna fanned Him with a camara; Madhumangala sat in front of Krsna and acted as court jester; Subala offered Him betel-nuts; and Subahu, Visala and some other sakhas assumed the roles of subjects. Through Madhumangala, Chatra-pati Maharaja Krsna proclaimed through the land," Maharaja Chatra-pati Nandakumara is the sole emperor here. No one else has claim to any authority. Daily the gopis destroy this garden(Chatravana); therefore they should all be punished."

Story of Lord Krishna - SRIMAD BHAGAVATA by Krsna-Dwaipayana Vyasa

The Song of the Bee

1. The young women of Vraja became astonished upon seeing Lord Krsna’s servant, who had long arms, whose eyes resembled a newly grown lotus, who wore a yellow garment and a lotus garland, and whose lotuslike face glowed with brightly polished earrings. “Who is this handsome man?” the gopis asked. “Where has he come from, and whom does he serve? He’s wearing Krsna’s clothes and ornaments!” Saying this, the gopis eagerly crowded around Uddhava, whose shelter was the lotus feet of Lord Uttamahsloka, Sri Krsna.

Sri Prathama Kunja-vihary-ashtaka

Krsna who is called Syamasundara, is the beautiful color of a cloud. His lotuslike face as effulgent as the sun, His dress brilliant with jewels, and His body garlanded by flowers, He is the object of the ideal yogi's meditation.

Story of Lord Krishna - SRIMAD BHAGAVATA by Krsna-Dwaipayana Vyasa

1. Next, after assimilating Uddhava’s report, Lord Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the omniscient Soul of all that be, desired to satisfy the serving girl Trivakra, who was troubled by lust. Thus He went to her house.

2. Trivakra’s home was opulently appointed with expensive furnishings and replete with sensual accouterments meant to inspire sexual desire. There were banners, rows of strung pearls, canopies, fine beds and sitting places, and also fragrant incense, oil lamps, flower garlands and aromatic sandalwood paste.

Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara) - Kosi(Kosivana)

Once, Sri Krsna was so eager to meet Srimati Radhika that He knocked on Her door. From inside the house, Srimati Radhika asked,"Ko'si?(Who are You?)"

Sri Krsna replied," I am Krsna."
The word krsna also happens to mean "black snake". Radhika therefore said," If You are a black snake, then why come here? Do You want to bite me? Go to the forest. You have no purpose here."
